Rebecca Wolfenden

Child Care Solicitor

Solicitor in the Child Care department

Rebecca is a Care, Children and Family Law Specialist known for her sympathetic, practical and non-confrontational approach.  Her aim is to reach solutions with the minimum of delay and acrimony.

She is particularly keen to assist in minimising the impact of separation on children in the family.

She has significant experience in representing parents in private law proceedings regarding their children, advising on how best to achieve a Child Arrangement Order (live with/spend time with), and Specific Issue and/or Prohibited Steps Orders. Where domestic abuse is a factor, she regularly makes urgent applications to obtain Non-Molestation and Occupation Injunction Orders to keep her clients and their children safe.

Rebecca’s main area of expertise is in Care work where the Local Authority are involved with children and their families. She acts for parents and other family members; from providing initial pre-proceedings advice and in pre-court PLO meetings, through to Care proceedings. She advises on the whole range of care plans and available orders, including Special Guardianship and Child Arrangement Orders, as well as Care Orders and their discharge. Rebecca also regularly acts for children in Care Proceedings taking her instructions from their Guardian.

“I enjoy the variety in my work, every day is different but guiding and supporting people through difficult times is what I thrive on, seeing people making the necessary changes to ensure better outcomes for themselves and their children.

“At the same time ensuring children are safeguarded and protected from harm is a crucial part of my role and there is nothing better than seeing a child return home or remain in the care of their family.”

In July 2019 Rebecca became accredited by the Law Society as a member of the Children Law Panel. She is also a member of Resolution and in July 2019 was accredited by Resolution as a Specialist Family Lawyer with particular specialisms in Children Law- Private and Domestic Abuse. Rebecca is also a member of Child Concern.

She studied law at Hull University and took her Legal Practice Course at BBP Law School Manchester, qualifying with a distinction.

Rebecca joined Pearson in 2007 as a trainee solicitor and qualified in 2009. She is based at our Oldham office but is able to meet clients at any one of our other offices in Failsworth and North Manchester.  Of course she is also able to meet clients via remote meetings on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Facetime, WhatsApp or whatever medium is suitable to the client.
