A Medical Negligence Case – Nursing Home Negligence

  • Posted on

80 year old Mrs E was a resident in a nursing home and was largely bed bound due to osteoarthritis.  She had been kept safe for many years with bed rails but these were removed by nursing staff without any risk assessment or adjustment of the care plan.

Mrs E became confused due to a urinary tract infection and tried to get out of bed.  She fell to the floor and fractured her femur.

She was treated on traction during a lengthy hospital stay before discharge with cricket pad splints.

Her remaining months were made uncomfortable by the splints and reduced mobility in bed. Sadly Mrs E died of unrelated causes.

Pearson Solicitors Medical Negligence provided supportive expert opinion and helped the family of Mrs E achieve an early negotiated settlement.  The family was also eager to obtain further assurances that lessons would be learned about future practice and these were provided.
