Demist Your Car if You Want To Avoid Costly Court Action This Winter, warns Oldham Solicitor
Pearson’s Personal Injury team recovered over £4,000 recently for a client who was hit by another vehicle in a narrow Oldham Street.
“The accident itself was a simple road traffic accident where the Defendant had failed to demist his car windows,” warned solicitor Pearson Solicitors.
“However what this shows is how important it is to make sure your windows are clear before you set out on these cold frosty mornings.”
The law states that your vision must be clear, Section 229 of the Highway Code confirms before you set off, you must be able to see, so clear all snow and ice from your windows, ensure lights are clean and your number plate is clearly visible and legible, ensure your windows are demisted, remove all snow that might fall off your vehicle into the path of other users. Failing to clear windows properly could lead to a fixed penalty fine and three penalty points.
The client sustained relatively modest soft tissue injuries and recovered £4,350 in compensation.
