Double Advice Days for Divorcing Couples
At the start of 2013 Pearson Solicitors launched a free family law clinic, this has gone from strength to strength and now at the start of 2014 the clinic is increasing to two days a week.
The free 30 minute sessions will now run every Tuesday and Thursday at the Queen Street office, Oldham, giving people access to crucial help and advice at a particularly stressful period in their lives.
Pearson’s Family Law Partner, Daniel Prince, who started the clinic said: “There has been a real demand for this free service over the past 12 months and I am pleased to be reacting to client’s needs.
“January is always a very busy time for our family law department as people take stock after Christmas and use the New Year as a period of change and reflection.
“My clinic appointments have highlighted to me the public’s often negative and cautious perception of solicitors and the fees involved, which can put many people off getting expert advice at a time they need it most,” said Daniel.
“Pearson Solicitors are committed to providing free 30 minute interviews, so at the very least clients can get an opinion on what they are hoping to achieve. We take this opportunity to explain the likely fees involved and payment methods and clients appreciate this approach as it eases their worries during an often stressful time.
“Fixed fees and online divorces are not always what they seem and we like to provide our clients with a bespoke service tailored to their specific needs.”
The main area of concern is the cost of a divorce. As Daniel added: “I have found that clients can have a greatly distorted view of what the cost of a case should be, often worrying about the final bill, without realising that payment options are available. If expert advice is obtained early enough then proceedings can often be avoided.
“Dispelling the myths about divorce has been a useful part of our clinic meetings and one year on we are still fully booked. By adding an extra day we have reacted to the needs of our clients and are giving people want they obviously want.”
