Oldham Loses Out In Care Funding Post Code Lottery

  • Posted on

It has been revealed in a Which survey that Oldham is one of the lowest funders for continuing healthcare funding in the country.

Continuing healthcare funding is available for people who are classed as having complex medical needs and involves the NHS paying for their full care costs in qualifying cases whether they reside in a Care Home, Nursing Home or in their own home.

The Department of Health figures for 2013/14 have revealed how many people out of 50,000 in different regions have their treatment paid for by NHS Local Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The highest proportion of people funded is in Salford as 144.6 out of every 50,000 whereas nearby Oldham pays for just 27.7 people out of every 50,000.

We offer advice and representation on behalf of clients challenging NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding decisions and have already recouped thousands of pounds for our clients in care fees which should not have been paid. See our Reclaim Care Home Fees pages for further information.
