Solicitors and Staff Scale Snowdon for Charity

  • Posted

Our support for Action Oldham is on a bit of a roll at the moment and about to hit its highest peak as we set off to Snowdon.

Thanks to the generosity of clients and friends of the firm we have recently reached our £1000 target in our #zipwire challenge. A group of us travelled over to Wales one bright sunny day earlier this month and all bravely took part in the Mayor of Oldham’s zip wire challenge.

It was such an exhilarating feeling to be flung at 100mph down a Welsh mountain with only a wire to suspend us as we hung across the hills and hurtled to the valley floor.  It was all in aid of charity and so as we screamed and swore our way down the zipwire we reminded ourselves of the good work we were doing.  I know those of you who follow us on twittter have seen the pictures and the videos so well done to everyone who took part and thanks to Clare Taylor from Action Oldham who spurred us into action.

In addition, we recently handed over a second cheque to Action Oldham for donations raised as a result of our conveyancing initiative. For this, we pledged to donate £1 for every house transaction and £2 for every commercial premises transaction we handled in Oldham from April 2016-17 and have to date donated £800 to the charity for this effort.

And they say things come in 3's so it's fitting that in July a team of us are once again heading to the Welsh hillsides and climbing Snowdon in aid of the same Oldham Charity.

Our staff have been really committed to the cause and it’s great to be supporting a local charity and keeping our efforts local. In addition to the charity efforts we also sponsored the Revolution Spring Ball and got to meet the various groups they help out.

The money raised will support a range of community activity, from projects assisting disadvantaged young people, to people with learning disabilities through to isolated older people on our doorstep right here in Oldham.
