It’s good news today if you are selling your house, estate agents are back in business, viewings can take place and conveyancing solicitors are ready to help out after a quiet few months.

Spring is always a busy time for house moves with bank holidays a prime time to help the moving process, but in 2020 the whole industry has been put on hold, only moves into vacant properties have been permitted.  The recent news has been welcomed by all sectors of the housing market and so if you’re selling a property and want to move house now is the time to contact your specialist solicitor.

“It might be a daunting time after weeks of lockdown and the thought of letting strangers look around could be off putting, but there are a few things you can do to ease the stress; ask your estate agent about virtual viewings, go and wait outside if it’s a physical viewing with an agent, wipe down surfaces, keep the property ventilated and of course if you suspect the viewer has symptoms do not let them in but suggest the virtual tour,” said Head of Property at Pearson Ben Tatters.

“Many clients have spent hours in lockdown pouring over properties online or doing diy and getting their home ready for a potential move, so now is the time to put that planning in action,” added Ben.

The Housing Secretary this week announced the plans to re-tart the housing market in line with social distancing advice.

Alongside estate agents, show homes can re open, removal companies and the other essential parts of the sales and letting process are also to be re-started with immediate effect.

Since lockdown restrictions were implemented in March and the stay at home message was in place more than 450,000 people have been unable to progress their plans to move house.

All buyers and sellers will now be able to complete purchases and view properties in person, while estate agents, conveyancers and removals firms can return to work while following social distancing guidelines.
