Typically the first week in January is a busy one for our Divorce and Family team as they see a surge in enquiries following the Christmas period. However, this year might be different as it has been predicted that numbers of enquiries will be lower than normal. Many families have been living under stress due to the coronavirus pandemic and may have already decided to split.

Our specialist Divorce and Family Solicitors know that relationship problems can occur at any time of the year. It’s usually the case when couples spend more time together such as a family holiday, Christmas break that pre-existing problems are highlighted. However, the pandemic has brought some of these decisions forward.

When things are tough at home it helps to get good advice and having friendly and professional solicitors to turn to is essential.

The Divorce and Family Solicitors at Pearson have years of experience between them and cover all areas of family law and childcare issues.

“We would recommend that you seek legal advice early so that things can remain amicable between you and your partner. Our experience enables us to deal with divorce proceedings in a sympathetic and efficient manner specialising in the division of property, capital and pension issues that arise following a marriage breakdown”, advises Lucinda McWatt, Divorce Solicitor for Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers.

“We deal with parents, grandparents and other family members seeking to care for children. Our initial meeting ( 20 minutes) is offered free of charge and this is where we are able to highlight matters such as finances and suggest possible ways forward which you might not have previously considered,” she adds.

Pearson Solicitors deal with married and co-habiting couples both prior to marriage/cohabitation and after. Our Divorce and Family Solicitors can also assist in relation to Injunctions and help plan for the future and start legal proceedings where required.

Within the team are experts in all these areas, as well as Resolution Accredited Specialists and Members of the Law Society Family and Children Panel.

“The Covid-19 restrictions and all the changes to daily life have put enormous strains on families. It can be hard to make that first contact with a solicitor, but we are here to guide and help you through these tough times,” reassures Lucinda.
