INSIGHT: CYCLE Charity Challenge Is An Olympic Effort For Local Lawyer

  • Posted on

A LOCAL lawyer is aiming to raise money for charity in a gruelling cycle race around the Olympic time trial route in London.

Michael Pitt, Partner at Oldham firm Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers, is in serious training for the Ride London100 challenge in aid of the Mines Advisory Group.

The race with over 20,000 participants celebrates the legacy of London 2012 and as we prepare for Rio 2016 the event is sure to be high profile.  Starting at the Olympic Park it then progresses through London and into the Surrey countryside, tackling the famous Box Hill.  The aim is to complete the 100 mile course in a nine hour time slot.

This is the third year Mike has taken part in the event, first prompted to do it the year after the London Olympics in 2012 and emulate Sir Bradley Wiggins.

“This is truly a deserving cause,” said Michael.  “I initially got involved with them via a cycle charity ride through France and wanted to offer my help again. All money raised will help to save lives and build futures in communities affected by landmines all over the world.

“Basically the charity clear mines and IEDs, it’s a tough job and very important given all the fighting around the Middle East – so a few miles on a bike and aching limbs is not a big deal,” added Mike.

Training in what was been one of the wettest June’s on record has not been easy, but as he says it’s all in a good cause.

“Colleagues and clients have all been very supportive and I hope everyone will dig deep, if I can match what I’ve raised in the past I will be really pleased,” he added.
