The unease sweeping across the country and the unknown in what lies ahead has led to lots of calls to our solicitors as people seek to focus on their loved ones.
The Law Society has reported a huge 30% national surge in requests for legal advice from elderly or vulnerable people wanting to put their affairs in order and this is something which we have seen locally.
“Perhaps it’s having time to reflect on what is important to us, having time at home as we all try new ways of working, or just simply trying to get your affairs in order, whatever the reason clients have been getting in touch with us over the past two weeks to secure appointments and get advice,” said head of the Private Client team, Joanne Jones.
“For this period we are offering telephone appointments to our clients and whilst our offices are open as normal we are encouraging staff to work from home whenever possible and are having tele conferences and meetings with clients. Obviously email, skype, phone and FaceTime sessions with clients are beginning to be the new norm, but we will also offer to visit clients in their homes, until the Government advice tells us not to,” she added.
As a responsible business Pearson has taken a number of steps to preserve and maintain the safety of our clients, staff and of course our offices during the Coronavirus outbreak but if you currently have a matter with us there is no need to worry it will proceed as normal.
“We don’t need to panic and Covid -19 is not the reason you should get your affairs in order, but it does focus one’s mind as to what planning we all need to put in place generally,” said Joanne.
“If a client does get in touch our service is unique and bespoke, as we not only fully review their Will, but also their personal circumstances generally. We fact find for all clients so we can learn all about them and their very individual circumstances and only then advise fully on any issue that may affect them.
“This is all free and no obligation if clients decide after the review not to instruct us but it does give them the ability to make informed decisions as they get all the pertinent information and specific advice that they need to make not only for their benefit, but for their families and loved ones,” Joanne added.
