Description of business

Based in Denton, Manchester, gtd healthcare is a not-for-profit primary care services provider, delivering urgent out-of-hours medical and dental care to 1.6 million residents across the North West.

With an annual turnover in excess of £21m, the business employs almost 500 clinical and non-clinical staff in addition to contracting services from a further 150 self-employed GPs. gtd healthcare also provides a range of healthcare support to intermediate care services, GP referral management schemes and back office support.

Established for over 20 years, gtd healthcare has pioneered numerous leading edge services and works with like-minded organisations focused on the provision of integrated, whole person care.

The challenge

gtd healthcare sought a reliable, proactive and responsive legal support service to deal with both ad-hoc issues, and forward planning and risk mitigation strategies.

The client required a highly bespoke package of commercial legal support including advice and support on all employment matters including TUPE transfer situations, grievance and disciplinary processes, workforce re-structuring and Employment Tribunal advice.

The solution

Service delivery has been multi-faceted and has included: weekly employment clinics at the client’s premises provided by Susan Mayall, Head of Employment; additional individual employment case specific support; design and delivery of bespoke training sessions to the senior management team and a regular review of all HR policies to ensure compliance with current legislation and advice to ensure commercial and corporate risks are mitigated.
