Employment Rights Act 1996

The Employment Rights Act 1996 brought together the various strands of employment law legislation.

The Act is the basis and the “go to” place to review employment law statutory rights including statutory redundancy payments, the basic and additional awards for unfair dismissal, information on calculating weekly earnings including for the purposes of statutory maternity, paternity and adoption benefits, holiday pay rights, guaranteed payments under the Lay Off and Short Time Working Guarantee Payments Scheme, notice period and notice pay for periods of statutory minimum notice, holiday pay, payment for time off to look for work in a redundancy situation, time off for antenatal care and time off to attend adoption appointments.
