Divorce and Family Law Solicitor

Emma was born and bred in the seaside town of Blackpool and has practiced in Family Law for over 12 years. After attending a local school and sixth form she studied law at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. After graduation Emma set off on the path of becoming a Solicitor and passed the LPC at the University of Central Lancashire with distinction.

Joining a Blackpool high street law firm she secured a training contract which led to her qualification as a Solicitor in December 2008. Throughout her career Emma has been passionate about Family Law and has practiced solely in that area since qualification.

Moving to Oldham in April 2000 Emma has practiced in the Manchester area since then and joined Pearson in July 2019 adding to the strength of the Family Department.

Emma is a member of Resolution, an organisation with 6,500 family lawyers and other professionals who are committed to resolving disputes in a non-confrontational way. As a Resolution member Emma adheres to the Resolution Code of Practice.

Over the course of her career Emma has handled hundreds of cases including divorces (both defended and undefended), dissolution of civil partnerships, matrimonial finances including division of the family home, family business, pensions and other assets. Emma has also been instructed to prepare separation agreements and cohabitation agreements together with financial consent orders. Emma has also represented clients in children disputes including relocation cases, residence and contact. She has represented parents and grandparents in these proceedings.

Dealing with her clients as individuals Emma adopts a constructive and non-confrontational approach to family matters. However, where necessary, she is robust aiming to negotiate the best settlement for her clients whilst always being keenly aware of the emotional and financial costs of the proceedings. She sets out all the options for clients and aims to settle matters as quickly and costs effectively as possible. Emma can advise on the short and long term implications of any proposed financial settlement and is supported by Financial Advisors who can further assist the client where necessary.
