Oldham Business Awards open for nominations again

As autumn approaches, the new term is upon us it’s time to consider entering the Oldham Business Awards or nominate a colleague, client or supplier

The Oldham Business Awards now in their twelfth year have become a regular feature in the Oldham business calendar.

Having been involved in the Oldham Business awards for many years, the opportunity arose for Pearson to become headline sponsor last year.  In the past the firm have supported the awards by sponsoring a category, being a part of the judging process and always attended the event.

The traditional categories remain:-

  • Business of the Year ( under £1m)
  • Business of the Year ( £1-5m)
  • Business of the Year (Over £5m)
  • Business Person of the Year
  • Start-up Business of the Year
  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Supporting Young People
  • Employer of the Year
  • Community Engagement

With a new category entering the race for 2020

  • Micro Business of the Year

Head of Financial Services and Partner at Pearson, Richard Eastwood says, “It is a pleasure and a privilege to headline sponsor the Oldham Business Awards again this year. It’s exciting to see a new category added this year too.  We’re looking forward to seeing which companies come forward or the new Micro Business of the Year category.  Our corporate team help businesses of all shapes and sizes.   Who knows whether today’s start up could become a flourishing big business in a few years?”

“Oldham is a hub for many small developing businesses; there is so much support available from various agencies too, it also has a thriving networking community where there are groups to suit all sectors and needs.  Oldham really is a great place to do business so I would encourage anyone in business to enter this year.”

The 2019 awards saw some new Oldham businesses gaining recognition.  E.g. Physio Matters won both Employer of the Year and Business of the Year (under £1m) having never entered before and Defiance Gin won Young Business of the Year and gained much brand exposure as a result.

Richard explains, ”Each year the Oldham Business Awards gets bigger and better and is outgrowing the capacity of the Queen Elizabeth Hall.  It really is great to sponsor what is now recognised as the best event in the town and a real privilege to participate in one of the best award ceremonies in the North West.  It really is a brilliant night!”
