Amber Seddon
Amber is a member of our employment law department and is one of the many young lawyers looking to start their careers with Pearson.
A first class graduate in law from the Manchester Metropolitan University she is currently studying for her LLM Legal Practise course. It is her intention to sit the SQE exams and qualify as a solicitor once she has gained the qualifying work experience.
Her previous role as a family engagement worker at a Category-C men’s prison for four years, supporting the families of prisoners, has given her a thorough grounding of operating in a stressful environment and working with a wide variety of people – a great basis for a career in the law.
My undergraduate dissertation critically reviewed the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and potential factors affecting rape convictions in England and Wales. In addition my project as part of my Masters looked into the current issue of overcrowding in prisons and the rehabilitation of prisoners and I really do feel that this breadth of knowledge and the work I have undertaken is a great foundation for my future career.
Employment law is a varied role, both working with people who have issues with employers and don’t know how to handle it, but also I look forward to working with business owners and companies of all sizes and understanding the issues they face
In her spare time Amber enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family.
