Potential Opportunity for Training Contract

We are seeking a talented and motivated Paralegal to join our specialist Clinical Negligence team. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring solicitor to gain valuable experience within a supportive and dynamic legal environment, working alongside experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitors on a varied claimant caseload.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of clinical negligence matters, develop practical legal skills, and receive guidance and support to progress their career. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to solicitors handling a varied caseload of claimant clinical negligence claims, including matters involving misdiagnosis, surgical errors, delayed treatment, and other medical negligence issues.
  • Assist with the investigation and preparation of claims, including reviewing medical records, preparing case summaries and chronologies, and identifying key issues.
  • Conduct legal research and assist with the preparation of documents and correspondence.
  • Draft routine legal documents, letters, and client communications under supervision.
  • Assist with the preparation of instructions to medical experts and counsel.
  • Liaise with clients, medical professionals, and third parties in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Maintain accurate case records and assist with compliance requirements and file management.
  • Support solicitors with case progression, including preparation for settlement discussions, mediations, and hearings.
  • Develop knowledge of clinical negligence law and demonstrate a commitment to professional development.

Requirements and Attributes

  • Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or similar role is desirable, ideally within clinical negligence, personal injury, litigation, or another relevant area.
  • Strong academic background and a genuine interest in pursuing a career in clinical negligence law.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively with clients.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities with a willingness to learn and develop legal knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support colleagues in a busy legal environment.
  • Proactive approach with enthusiasm for building a long-term career within the firm.
  • Commitment to progressing towards qualification, with potential consideration for a training contract.

  • Draft and review legal documents, contracts, and correspondence accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines efficiently.
  • Proficiency with property software and Microsoft Office applications.
