David Webb joins Pearson’s Private Client Department

  • Posted on

The Private Client department at Pearson Solicitors has expanded with the appointment of David Webb, taking the department to twelve in total.

David, who has 10 years of experience in this area of the law is now part of a developing Private Client department dealing with Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate matters.

Welcoming David Webb

He joined the team at Pearson Solicitors after working at DWF Law LLP, Manchester for over 7 years in their Tax and Private Capital team.  Prior to that, he was part of the Private Client team at Stephensons Solicitors in Bolton.

Commenting on his appointment, Director and Practice Manager, Joanne Ormston, said:

“Our Private Client team are at the core of what we do as a firm, they are the traditional bedrock of Pearson and it’s great to see how we have developed and grown over the years.”

“David is part of that strategic development and will further assist in our move into the Milnrow, Littleborough and Rochdale areas. He is well known in the Rochdale legal world and keen to help us develop our recent acquisition of Sarah Dixon & Co in Milnrow, working with Sarah.”

David is a Chartered Legal Executive and fellow of CILEX (FCILEx) and a member of The Manchester Law Society.

Why Pearson Solicitors

Here David explains why he made the move to join Pearson Solicitors

“I really liked the friendly atmosphere and people in the firm and noted that Pearson were well known in the legal industry across various sectors. I have felt part of a team since day one.

I wanted to move to a local firm closer to home to help local people who may not have the capability to instruct more larger corporate businesses in Manchester City Centre and my aim is to provide a more friendly approach to the legal complexity of private client work.

I like helping people deal with their assets and planning for the future. I like the variety of workload and the types of estate cases that Private Client work involves. My aim is to help others during the loss of a loved one and provide straightforward legal advice to family members on the often daunting procedure of Probate and to assist them with lifetime planning.

I want to further expand my technical legal knowledge and people skills and as an ambitious individual I would also like to obtain further legal rights and applicable qualifications to boost my legal development where appropriate.”

Changes in Private Client

David has already seen some changes in the Private Client system and predicts more is to come.

“There have been interesting developments with regards to the creation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney with the advancement in technology. Nowadays some people can sign and witness official legal documents online, as well as in the more traditional wet ink which some clients of course prefer and want to stick with physical deeds and documents for the purposes of signing.”

“There are also some continuing parliamentary debates with regards to the rate of Inheritance Tax, the archaic Wills Act 1837 and whether Inheritance Tax should be reduced, if not abolished altogether. Although a large number of estates are not “caught in the Inheritance Tax net” it will be interesting to see the Governments aims for this tax going forward over the next few years along with possible changes to the Wills Act.” adds David Webb.
