From Desks to Squats: Pearson Solicitors Take on Charity Challenge

  • Posted on

It’s not just legal cases keeping Pearson Solicitors on their toes this August - it’s 100 squats a day.

A team from Pearson Solicitors has swapped desks for daily workouts, taking part in Cancer Research UK’s charity squat challenge. Each member is completing 100 squats every single day - even while on holiday - meaning by the end of the month they’ll have conquered 3,100 squats each, and more than 12,000 squats as a team.

With no registration fee or minimum sponsorship required, the fundraising challenge was an easy choice for staff keen to support a good cause while boosting their fitness.

Fitness Meets Fundraising

Cancer Research UK is Pearson’s chosen charity of the year, and as employee Carol Parker explained, the challenge has been the perfect mix of fitness and fundraising:

“Every penny counts and the pressure is not on fundraising, but on completing the challenge – no mean feat as the temperature soars,” said Carol Parker.

“Doing 100 squats a day is tough, but hopefully rewarding. It’s great for leg and core strength, joint mobility, and even mental health thanks to those endorphins — although I did get a few funny looks when I was squatting on the beach on a recent holiday!”

Pearson’s Uppermill receptionist, Chloe Cadman, who also runs a local gym, has found creative ways to fit the squats into her daily routine:

“I did offer to run a lunchtime class at the office but I think most people have been squeezing them in while brushing their teeth, waiting for the kettle to boil, or in front of the TV at night,” she said.

Support the Pearson Solicitors Squat Challenge

The Pearson Solicitors team hopes to raise up to £500 from the squat challenge — adding to the impressive £5,000 already raised this year through a variety of charity fundraising activities.

If you’d like to help Pearson Solicitors in their challenge and support Cancer Research UK’s life-saving research, you can donate via 100 squat challenge. Every squat, and every penny, makes a difference.
