INSIGHT: Saddleworth Makes It To Top Spot In Homes Survey
The North West is the top spot for families in a recent North v South survey, with one area on our doorsteps, Delph, Saddleworth, making it to the top five places in the UK to have a family.
The Family Friendliness Index, by Property Detetective.Com, looked at school provision, local facilities for families, crime rates and even NCT networks when judging the regions.
Pearson’s Conveyancing Solicitor, Victoria Sweeney, is a mum-to-be and so she cast a keen eye on the recent survey.
“It’s what we’ve always known, that the North West is a great place to live. We have access to cities and green space, good housing stock, some great schools and universities and for me it gets the thumbs up, I’m looking forward to bringing my family up in the area.
“Moving house is a major life decision and getting not just the right location but the right solicitors can make all the difference in what should be a smooth move. So often people say moving house is stressful, it is the largest purchase you are ever going to make so at Pearson’s we go out of our way to make it as pleasant and stress free as possible,” she added.
As well as Delph, other areas in the North West making it into the top spots to start and raise a family were Bollington, near Macclesfield, Altrincham, Poynton, Higher Whitley near Warrington, Chorley, Bolton and Darwen.
The study considered functional needs for families (local amenities and facilities) and emotional needs (supportive communities and networks).
Family friendliness was assessed based on the quality of local schools and green areas as well as the provision of NCT networks and places where families can meet up.
Property Detective founder Barry Bridges added: “There is a definite North-South divide when it comes to starting or raising a family.
“For those starting a family, the North appears to be the best choice with 8 out of 10 locations North of the Midlands.”
