Two experienced lawyers join Pearson Solicitors

  • Posted on

TWO new members of staff have joined Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers as part of the award-winning firm’s expansion.

Solicitor Helen Law, who has over 20 years experience has joined the Private Client team and Oldham-born solicitor Stacy Fox returns to the area to work as part of the Family and Childcare department.

Helen specialises in the preparation of Wills, dealing with Probate, estate administration, inheritance tax planning and trusts.

She is particularly interested in assisting elderly people with their affairs and is a member of the Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) organisation, providing specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers.

“I am pleased to be part of a vibrant and forward thinking firm.  Pearson’s client care is exceptional and I hope to get to know as many clients as possible in the forthcoming months.  Having a will is essential and with an ageing population it is vital that people obtain the correct legal advice to protect their assets,” she said.

Helen Law is also a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists and an approved panel member of MENCAP, able to advise families when they have special health care needs.

Former Hathershaw School and Oldham Sixth Form pupil, Stacy Fox, is looking forward to getting back to work in Oldham.  As a solicitor she focuses on Local Authority proceedings and child disputes, including contact, residence and removal from the jurisdiction.

“Each client has unique needs and expectations and I strive to achieve the best possible outcome for them by working in collaboration and when necessary presenting their case in court,” she said.

She previously headed up the matrimonial and family department of Gartangs Burrows Bussin in Bolton and is looking forward to working in Oldham once again; she qualified at the former Pearson Hinchliffe Solicitors in 2004.

Stacy is a member of the Law Society Children Panel, representing not only parents, but also children.  She is an accredited member of the Law Society’s Advanced Family Law Panel, specialising in ancillary relief and domestic abuse cases and sits on the Manchester Resolution Committee.  She assists with pro-bono clinics at Manchester Civil Justice Centre and the Oldham County Court clinic.

Welcoming them both Practice Manager and Partner, Jo Ormston said:  “It’s wonderful to welcome two members of staff of such a high calibre.  Both Stacy and Helen are experts in their field and bring a wealth of experience and skills with them.”
